Grantham University Week 7 Social Responsibility Discussion Social ResponsibilityMany companies today are concerned with social responsibility. They may pursue philanthropic activities and/or strive to be ethical. Your goal for this assignment is to evaluate the company you currently work for or a company of your choice and find out where the business of your choice stands, along the lines of social responsibility.
How does your company encourage their employees to do volunteer work?
Is there a specific organization such as Habitat for Humanity that your company of choice supports or encourages their employees to volunteer or become involved in.
Are the corporate volunteers paid for their efforts, perhaps through designated volunteer days or hours?
What do the companies receive for their efforts to be good community citizens?
How does the ability to perform volunteer work on company time affect employee perception of the company?

Being an employee at Apple has shown me a lot about the company. We not only show our positivity & expertise on the products we sell, but we are very big on environmental responsibility. We respond to Natural disasters to help volunteer local areas in the community as well as supporting Charities with donations. We do not get paid for the social volunteers we commit to but there are other employee benefits for our time and efforts. Apple started to volunteer programs back in 2011, so by now the perception I have on the company has grown. We recycle products to help the environment. Because the company is so popular nationwide my local store does not require the employees to do any work that is outside of the job description. Managers and higher positions travel from time to time to big Apple locations for CSR activities. My thoughts on CSR (corporate social responsibility) are positive because it is a very nice, helpful, caring, and uplifting look on the company. Regardless if the company needs to be socially uplifted or not it can always be an asset for success.2.Theresa Griffith

This is one of the leading satellite companies in the U.S. Direct Tv offers a variety of programs with a cheaper price .You have the options to pick your tv packages without paying too much and changing your package whenever you choose to without a penalty. You have a variety of ways to watch tv such as streaming,trailer,and so forth,giving you the pleasure to watch it at any given time. Direct Tv offers their employees many incentivies to get their employees to do volunteer work or over time. First of all the technicians that have to travel a long distance to instill equipment gets the opportunity to get paid for time spent on the job ,or time off with pay.Often employees has the benefit to choose being paid ,time off or both of them as their accommodations. Direct Tv is a very highly recommended satellite company that has many customers and still growing.If Direct Tv keep their pricing at a low price it will continue to grow to be a leading satellite company.
