Request to Hire New Security Officers
The intent of this email is to request for approval for additional security staff.
The security department is now understaffed. There is a great possibility, I could lose a few more
officers due to leadership changes, and policy and procedures. Also, in preparation of the theft
incidents around the hospital campus and the increasing volume of patients, visitors, and staff. At
this time, the security department is understaffed, more security is needed.
In connection with that, I would like to receive approval to hire 6 additional security officers,
and 2 security shift supervisors to have 100% full security of the Children’s Hospital.
Requested Security Staff Needed
Security Officers:
First Shift-(2) two Officers short
Second Shift-(2) two Officers Short
Weekend Officers-(2) two Officers Short.
Shift Security Supervisors:
1-Second Shift Supervisor
1-Third Shift Supervisor

Security Officer Patrol Accountability
Observation:
Officers are not patrolling the key target areas of the hospital campus. This shows that there are
no patrols in areas that are highly secured, and officers are not being held accountable. Also, the
officers are not given the proper guidance and supervision by the shift supervisor.
THE PIPE PATROL SYSTEM- can manage checkpoints, define routes for your patrols, and
create tour reports showing where officers have been.
• Checkpoints are the touch memory buttons read by THE PIPE. Checkpoints can represent
officers, locations, or observations, or checkpoints can be undefined.
• Officers use the PIPE to get checkpoints and perform tours.
• Locations are places where checkpoints have been installed.
• Observations are additional information that can be recorded and associated with
locations.
•A route is a collection of locations to be visited.
• A tour represents a visit to the locations in a route and reading the related location
checkpoints.
• Missed locations are locations included in a route that was not visited during a tour
Request for New Security Cameras System
Surveillance Cameras- Increase Security & Safety
The biggest benefits of having security cameras that are working here at the hospital is to
increase security for the campus. Using surveillance cameras can help deter theft, crime, and
violence because people are less likely to commit a crime if they know they’re being watched.
With so much traffic and activity going on here at Providence, security cameras can help staff
keep an eye on everything that’s going on.
Monitoring for and deterring drug activity
Increasing safety in parking lots and other public areas
Supporting urgent care in disaster scenarios
Monitoring patients with diminished faculties
Centralizing patient observation
REQUEST FOR SECURITY OFFICER UNIFORMS
Childrens Hospital employees working as security officers are subject to the requirements of this
uniform policy. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that individuals employed as security
officers exhibit uniformity in appearance so that, employed staff, and the general public are able
to identify and recognize the status and authority of the security officers. Adherence to this
policy by Hospitalpersonnel, shall provide for the safety, security, and protection of patients,
doctors, staff and authorized visitors while in and around Hospitalcampus.
I. GENERAL
A. ATTIRE:
1 All security officers shall receive three (3) complete sets of uniforms at the time of hire. Each
uniform issued shall consist of the following:
Three (3) pairs of pants
Three (3) navy blue Shirts
Three (3) navy blue long-sleeved shirts
One (1) Winter Coat
One (1) Tie
One (1) Belt
One (1) Winter Hat
3. Each security officer shall wear black rubber-soled shoes (not tennis shoes or sneakers) while
in uniform. Officers are responsible for their own work shoes.
4. All security Officers shall be required to wear issued uniforms while on duty.
B. IMPERMISSIBLE ATTIRE:
1. Sneakers/tennis shoes, jeans, shorts, sweatpants and/or T-shirts are not acceptable attire for
any security guard while on duty.
2. Security officers are expected to report for work physically clean, pressed neat uniform, and
well groomed, and remain presentable while on duty.
C. MAINTENANCE OF UNIFORM
1. Each security officer shall be responsible to maintain, clean and properly care for his/her
uniform.
