the work. Please attach screenshot to show the work. These screenshot should be
similar to what presented here. But it uses your key/token and different search
results using their search key word. The instructions are also posted in the

This project is to get tweets from twitter Apps and do analysis. Students can use it as a starting point to
further their investigation.
I. Instructions
Step1: Install R studio
https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/
Step2: Run R and install twitterR package: twitteR
Start Rstudio and within which to install R package twitter.
> install.packages(“twitteR”)
Or simply
Load the library to RStudio
>library(twitteR)
Step3: get twitter Apps Key and Secret
In order to get tweets, we need to be authenticated by Twitter through apps key and secret.

Click ‘Apps’ on the right side panel
Click ‘Details’ in the Mercy IASP
Click ‘Keys and tokens’ on the middle tab
Step4: Do OAUTH
Using keys and secrets to do authorization. The values are to be replaced by yours.
>tkey tkey_secret taccess_token taccess_token_secret setup_twitter_oauth(tkey, tkey_secret, taccess_token,taccess_token_secret)

We can choose 2 as “no”.
Step 5 Get tweets
> tweets tweets
Step 6: Save to CSV file
Students can use csv file for analysis. When data needs to span a period of time, it is better to use file.
They can be imported to the RStudio for analysis.

Step 9: More data Analysis
Students can investigate further from the csv file such as wordcloud, frequency, etc…
