This scholarly article more focuses on depression within the African American
community, but it still discusses the causes and treatment for depression. It looks over
psychological and biological causes for depression based on demographics and if it plays a role
with that in the African American community.

This book focuses on depression being a cognitive disability. It is pretty much an updated
version to the first version, going over the updated results from testing. The book presents a
overview of all the research gathered on the psychological, clinical, biological and theories of
depression. It adds new definitions, new symptoms, new disorders and more to the spectrum of
depression, its causes and its treatments.

The website thoroughly explains what depression is, the causes, symptoms, types,
diagnosis, treatment, and more. It goes over several symptoms varying for fatigue, sleeping too
much and more. It also discusses the difference in rates between women, men and teens.
Goldman talks about genetics playing a part in depression as well as social and psychological

factors. The article also goes over the different treatments and the side effects if you took
medication.

Depression is an illness that is characterized by episodes of extremely low mood. An
individual suffering from depression also experiences a sudden loss of enthusiasm for daily
activities such as their occupation or studies or other things they enjoy. In extreme cases,
depression has been known to impair the victim leading to total dysfunctionality and even
committing suicide. Research findings by the World Health Organization indicate that over three
hundred million individuals across the world suffer from depression, of those only sixteen
million are from the U. S. Is it factual that depression is due to a chemical imbalance in the brain
and can only be treated successfully with medication?
