What tools are you going to use to find information about trends for your
business?
My business idea is to start a gym with a healthy food restaurant in the Middle East. I
choose the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as my starting point before expanding to other
Middle East Countries. There are several tools I will use to find information about my
business idea. One of these tools is social media, which is a compelling option for
market research. I will contact influencers in the Middle East to know current trends
shaping gym businesses. I will also use Google Trends to discover popular stories
related to my business. However, I will mostly rely on search engines to look up
information and literature about the gym with healthy food restaurants to understand
the market population, customer needs and wants and how to successfully market my
new venture.
2. What is your business industry?
My gym and healthy food restaurant business belong to the health and fitness
industry. The gym is a fitness industry that involves centers for fitness, and the firm
focuses on providing infrastructure and services for fitness, such as equipment,
training, and space (Research and Markets, 2018). The health food restaurant, as the
name suggests, falls under the health food industry. This industry provides human
healthy like whole foods, natural foods, vegetarian foods, and dietary foods.
3. How big is the market?
The fitness and health market is growing remarkably, with 900 unorganized fitness
centers and fewer organized centers. The market is estimated to be worth more than
$400 m (Research and Markets, 2018). With obesity being at twice the world average,
opportunities for running a successful fitness and healthy food restaurant remain to be
fully exploited. The market is currently at its growing stage with great potential for
expansion in suburban and urban areas. With an increasing number of people using
health and fitness services, many UAE customers prefer yearly subscription in
organized fitness centers.
4. What future trends do you see based on your market research?
Competition is fitness and health center is fragmented because of few organized
fitness centers that have fewer outlets. Competition has driven the sale of custom
services and with additional provisions like restaurants and swimming pools. There is
anticipation that the current will grow immensely because of a new entrant in the
market, increased household income, and population growth. Another trend is the
increasing role of personal trainers and their effect on competition for unorganized and
organized centers.
