All the men where highly educated, 2 were physicists, 1 an aerospace engineer, and 1 an astrophysicist. They all worked at Caltech, an elite doctorate granting research university. They represent white male privilege except for Raj Koothrappali who was from a wealthy family in India. Whereas, the only female, Penny, in the original 5 characters, was the dumb blonde with no education but is beautiful and a great body to match. As the series progresses, they do incorporate a few more characters.
