Home Schooling Paper This assignment will help you plan ahead for the intermediate draft. By doing more work now, you save yourself time later.
You will do this by finding four sources on your stakeholder, your stakeholder’s values/goals, and/or visual rhetoric. Then you will:
Provide an APA or MLA-style citation for each source.
Summarize the article in 1-2 sentences.
Explain in 1-2 sentences how you plan to use the article in your paper.
Pull out 2 quotes from each article that you think are helpful.
Remember, you’re doing this for each of your four scholarly sources.
FOR EXAMPLE:
Corder, J.W. (1985). Argument as emergence, rhetoric as love. Rhetoric Review, 4(1). 16-32.
Jim Corder (1985) challenges traditional connotations of argumentation as violent. Instead, he offers rhetors a different way to mediate discourse.
I will use this article to support the National Communication Association’s choice of the word “mediate” to discuss contextual design.
“They do not, I believe, face the flushed, feverish, quaky, shaky, angry, scared, hurt, shocked, disappointed, alarmed, outraged, even terrified condition that a person comes to when his or her narrative is opposed” (21).
“…arguers can learn to abandon authoritative positions. They cannot be achieved, at any rate, except as in arrogance, ignorance, and dogma we convince ourselves that we have achieved authority (29). Al Rashdi

Home Schooling
Bridgeway Academy is a non-profit organization that offers homeschooling programs
for children and aims to make sure that they inspire and motivate the ability of each child. From
the background point of view, the organization has been committed to preaching and spreading
the idea of homeschooling not only locally but globally. The company has developed two
images that they use to sell their ideas to the world. The first shows a parent trying to assist her
kid with some schoolwork. A second image of the Bridgeway academy shows a kid making a
drawing of nature with different colors. However, there is a controversial issue between the
two images in terms of the way they were executed. Image 1 shows a parent trying to assist her
kid with homework, which, in a way, shows that the child attends school although not fully
justified. There exists a relationship between the two images is that both can demonstrate the
different components of homeschooling that the organization offers through its mission and
long-term goals.
The stakeholders goals of the Bridgeway organization encompass its interests,
missions, and message. One of the interests of the organization has been the K1 children who
Al Rashdi
are still at their early levels of learning. This, they argue, is because introducing homeschooling
to them early will provide proper basics and a formidable foundation for homeschooling in the
future. Image 2 shows a kid who is making some drawings with different colors depicting that
the child is being introduced to education at an early age. The organization has also been able
to change the lives of those children living with autism in society through their home education
programs (Lines 7). Besides, the images of the organization also play a part in the academy’s
mission statements. The organization’s mission is to offer both secular and Christian options
for homeschool families, charter schools, and state organizations, among others, who seek
flexible education options for their families. The message that image 1 tries to portray of the
organization is that it is ready to teach the kids with love and care to love learning ones enrolled
in their curriculum. On the other hand, the message to the parents from the second image is
that their children will be allowed time to increase their cognitive abilities, creativity, and
imagination.
A rhetoric situation refers to an instance where the reader or the viewer is persuaded
beyond doubt regarding a particular item. The organizations use image one and image 2 to
persuade parents and the state at large on the different importance and benefits that come by
with the adoption of the home education system. To begin with the first image, the organization
uses the picture of a parent who is assisting a kid who is doing some schoolwork. The inclusion
of a parent in the picture is persuasive enough to the parents that they need to adopt
homeschooling for their kids (Lines 10). Besides, the first image can demonstrate that there is
also a part that the parents play in homeschooling. Many curriculums leave the entire learning
of the kids to the teachers, but with this organization, that seems not to be the case. Image 2,
on the other hand, shows a kid who is drawing using different colors at such a tender age. This
persuades all the interested parties that the kids get to know a lot at an early age, which is not
Al Rashdi
the case with many other education systems. This is very beneficial because it builds a rigid
and formidable foundation for the later studies that the kid will get involved in.
The first rhetorical strategy used in the images is that of the pathos, which is used to
persuade the audience by bringing a particular emotion to them. Image 1 has some smiling
faces of the parent and the child, which depicts a happy and satisfying emotion. Image 2 uses
bright and attractive colors that evoke happy emotions to the viewer. The second rhetorical
strategy used is that of ethos that is used to persuade the audience on the credibility of an item
(Neuman and Aviram 135). Image 1 has some art and creativity that has been incorporated to
try and derive the right mix portraying that the organization is credible. Image 2 is
professionally shot and has no buffers depicting the credibility of the organization. The third
rhetoric strategy in the two images is that of the logos, which persuade the audience that the
arguments used are logical. Image 1 shows an adult teaching a child who appears to be logical
as compared to the other way around. In image two, uses flowers and leaves to signify nature,
which reasons a little bit of logic.
The first strategy that the organization used to persuade its audience through the images
is through the use of real images. The first image has a photo of a woman and a kid who are
real and not cartoons or drawings. The second image also shows a real kid who is making
drawings using different colors. The use of real people and items is one strategy that the
organization used effectively (Neuman and Aviram 135). A second strategy used by the
organization to effectively deliver information is that of the use of kids to signify home
education. The first and second images have kids, and this shows that homeschooling is for
kids, and parents should adopt it. The importance of this strategy is to convince parents totally
that their kids need home education to succeed.
Bridgeway organization has been committed to ensuring that it has delivered better
education to those kids in the homeschooling system. It has also been at the forefront in the
Al Rashdi
advertising of the home education curriculum to the world. To achieve this, it has incorporated
images that have been very relevant in persuading parents and other stakeholders about the
importance of the home education system. Rhetoric strategies and situations have been
incorporated in both images to make sure that the best results are achieved.
