In short, this is a “reflection” over an article that relates to something out of the anthology.

Find some kind of scholarly, critical article about a text from our anthology that you may or may not use for the Big Bad Research Paper due at the end of term. Think of this as getting a big head start by finding one of your five sources way ahead of time.

For this short paper, analyze/interpret and quote from this scholarly article you find. Be sure to quote from the article. Go ahead and groom a good citation form for the later papers. For example:

Brief signal phrase, “brief quote” (author and page). Interpretation of quote goes here.

One critic argues, “Edgar Allan Poe suffered from delirium tremens the last 10 years of his life” (Smith 319).

–or—

According to Bob Smith, “Edgar Allan Poe suffered from delirium tremens the last 10 years of his life” (319).

List a full citation at the very bottom of your page. Go ahead and cultivate proper MLA format for the end citation.

Another Big Hint: Electronic data bases often generate the end citation for you. Just copy and paste the reference to the end of the paper for your citation. You might have to edit a wee bit.
