ENG 102 Delaware Technical and Community Eradication of Racism Research Essay OVERVIEW
Based on your research from at least six (6) authoritative sources, write an essay in which you take an informed stance on the issue you have selected. Your essay must be thesis-driven and incorporate research to support the position you have taken on this issue. For each claim within your paper you must follow the CSET format, with your evidence portions consisting primarily of paraphrases.
FORMATTING
Length: 6 8 pages (this total is for the essays content, not including the title page/abstract/references)
Font: Double-spaced, size 12, Times New Roman.
Format: APA format with a title page, header, abstract, and references page.
ESSAY & RESEARCH
Page 2 should be your Abstractsummary of your own essay in 100-120 words.
Your research paper must have a thesis and must follow the Classical Argument structure
Warning! Do not let your sources guide your writing! (Which is why you do a Researchless Essay first.) This means you do not move through your paper writing about one source at a time. Instead, you must list your claims (reasons for your position), and then various sources will be used to support each claim.
Your paper must include at least seven (7) sources, and at least two of them must come from academic journals. General reference works such as dictionaries and encyclopedias do not count toward this 7-source total, nor do non-written sources, such as videos and interviews.
Dont overly-rely on one source in particular. No single source may account for more than 20% of your cited material: This means you must use your sources in a balanced way!
Use direct quotations sparingly. Source material should appear primarily as paraphrases. No more than 10% of the paper should be direct quotations.
Every source listed on the references page must be cited at least twice in the paper. Every source cited in the paper must have an entry on the references page.
At least 2 of those subtopics should address the solution you intend to propose.
1.Why do you think the solution will work?
a. If the system didnt put minorities down and gave them equal opportunities in every way that Caucasian Americans do things would be different.
b. Getting rid of racism using education as a platform will change the way children are educated about African American history.
2. Do you think the problem or solution will take more time to prove/explain, and why?
a. Yes, this is an issue that stems down to the core of American society. This will be a much more complicated process that can be fixed easily in a small window of time.
3. What will the opposition’s specific complaint/concern be (this should address a specific subtopic, not your thesis)?
a.Changing a flag will cause problems between those who wants to change the flag and those who would prefer it to stay the same.
4.Why do you feel qualified/prepared to write about this issue?
a.As a minority myself, racism has been something Ive observed since I was a child. The way a race is belittled just because of the color of their skin is preposterous.
5.Are there any assumptions/biases you have about the topic that you will need to make sure don’t get in the way of making a persuasive argument to a general audience?
a.No, I dont believe there is any assumptions or biases.
