Application of Taking 18 credits I am going to apply for 18 credits in the spring semester, but the school only allows students to have 15 credits in one semester, otherwise, I must write a statement for applying those extra 3 credits. I am very confident for my learning ability to take 18 credits next semester. I have a few
reasons that were able to prove my learning abilities and why I want to take extra credits next
semester.
Firstly, even though my English is my Second language, I have already study in the U.S
for 5 years since sophomore year in the high school. The language is not a big barrier to stop me
in writing and reading.
Secondly, I worked hard and took extra 9 credits last summer in order to graduate my
college one semester earlier. I will have 84 credits after finishing this fall semester. Furthermore,
if I want to graduate one semester earlier, I must take extra 6 credits during the next year. The
advisor suggested me to take those 6 credits next summer, but I had bad experiences in taking
summer school this year because it was very tough to communicate with the professor in the Email. Sometimes, professor in the summer did not reply my questions in the E-mail, which
caused my GPA down. Moreover, in last summer, I tried to make an appointment with the
professor in the office hour, but online classes did not have any office hour option. Therefore, I
do not think the summer classes is helpful in my college studying.
Thirdly, I planned to go to law school, so I want to spend my next summer time on
studying LSAT. If I take summer next year, I will not have much time on studying LSAT to have
a good grade to go to law school.
Lastly, I want to explain my GPA. I was in the international accelerator program. This
program was supposed to help the international students know what the American culture is.
However, this program did not really accelerate me because my American high school
experiences have already taught me everything about the U.S. I dare say I am very American.
Moreover, the reason of my going to the American University is that I want to study law, but
those classes were nothing about the law and the society. As we know, if a student has no any
interest in class, he or she will not study hard. In the contrast to those IAP classes, I had a good
grade in my major classes because the law is what I want to study.
Generally, I think I have a very clarified explanation of the reason why I want to take
extra credits next semester. I hope the advisor can give me a approve to take extra credits. Thank
