For this GRADED discussion, you will work with your peers. For your initial post, consider a time in your life when you had to look at something a little closer to make sense of it. This moment might focus on a document (like the grocery list example from the previous screen), a longer piece of writing, a piece of art, a billboard, and so on.

Before you begin writing, please review the discussion rubric below to make sure you fulfill all of the required tasks in your response.

When you’ve come up with the moment, write two fully developed paragraphs (5-8 sentences in length) explaining it. In the first paragraph, use rich description and detail to describe the moment. In the second paragraph, explain your method of examining the moment and what you discovered as a result.

When you’ve finished writing your two paragraphs, read over your peers’ posts and respond to two of them with at least one fully developed paragraph (5-8 sentences in length) for each response. What is your reaction to the way they made sense of something in their life? Would you have done the same thing, or would you have approached it differently? Why or why not? Remember, your approach can be completely different from your peer’s approach, as you can bring your own unique perspectives and life experiences to the situation.

Keep an eye out for responses on your original thread throughout the week and be sure to respond to them as well. Try to keep the conversation going throughout the module.

Moment of Critical Thinking – Mon Mar 2 07:40

Chad Sparkes

As a young adult many years ago I discovered early on critical thinking would play a part in my everyday life. I was an emancipated adult living on a limited budget at the time. When i went out to buy food that would last me the week I didn’t think I simply went and bought not what i needed but what I wanted. By doing that I had no money for other things by mid to end of the week.

After a couple of weeks struggling to make it through. I learned that I would have to stop buying what I wanted and only get what i really needed. By doing that I had saved enough money to last me through the week without struggling.

Moment of Critical Thinking – Mon Mar 2 14:35

When I first started to work in 2011 and bring in money for bills I thought that I had it down. I didn’t do too bad, however I wasn’t leaving money left over for anything else. I was also running out of food quickly. I started to think about how I was shopping when I would go. I would take trips to Walmart because it was closer and I did not have a car. I would also go to Fred Meyers. I then started to evaluate things at a closer look. I asked my dad if he would take me to other stores so that I could look at what I was doing wrong. I could not figure it out. He also wasn’t always available to take me to the stores. in 2016 I had taken a new spot in a new company and I had got myself a car. I started to take myself to Winco and that was when I started to find how to spend the money in a better way to save. There were things I still needed at the other stores because they were cheaper. Most things from Winco were cheaper. It took me a few years to get the grasp of things down. Honestly it took me growing up and learning that I really needed my own car. Trying to get rides from others can be hard.
