Final Project (Final week): Final Project (Final week): For the final project, students will choose one or more of the tools learned throughout the course and perform an appropriate analysis to solve a problem, answer a question, or demonstrate a system for decision-making. The final project includes two deliverables – 1. A Power Point presentation utilizing Voice Thread (must include at least one chart and one graph), and 2. The analytical calculations performed utilizing Excel. This is not to be a step-by-step tutorial on how to use Excel, but rather view it as presenting a business case to upper management or the board of directors which solves a problem, answers a question, or demonstrates a system for decision-making. 95 points – 19% of final grade. This project is wide open and you may do whatever you would like. Some of you already have ideas for projects, many of which are creating budgets. I think that is a great idea, especially if it is something you will be able to use on an ongoing basis. How to Present: As stated in the directions, this project should not be a step-by-step tutorial on how to use an Excel tool to solve a problem. You would not walk into a boardroom and give a lesson in Excel to a group of executives. Thus, you should not do so for this project either. Use the Excel tools to analyze the data and provide enough explanation in your presentation so the audience is satisfied and convinced by your conclusions and so they trust your recommendations. Remember to include at least one graph and at least one chart. |
