I don’t know how to handle this Political Science question and need guidance.

You are required to write a MINIMUM 4-page paper on US foreign policy.

Carefully read the instructions below.

The four main objectives of US foreign policy are the following:

1. Preserving the national security of the United States.

2. Promoting world peace and a secure global environment.

3. Maintaining a balance of power among nations.

4. Working with allies to solve international problems.

Using the notes, textbook, and at least THREE other ACADEMIC sources, you will write a research paper on the best way for the US to achieve these objectives. In doing so, you will discuss the different theoretical approaches to US foreign policy discussed in class as well the various presidential doctrines covered. You will also use the last notes covered to discuss which alternative approach(es) you believe best fit America’s future policy goals.

THE PAPER SHOULD BE TYPED, DOUBLE-SPACED, IN 12PT FONT WITH ONE INCH MARGINS. YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 3 SOURCES FOR THIS PAPER. THERE ARE NO OPINIONS OR “I” IN THE PAPER!!!!!!! Your paper must include in-text citations as well as a works cited page. You may use either MLA or APA citation formatting.

Your paper will be graded on the following:

1. You have a clear thesis statement/ research question;

2. You have a complete introduction;

3. Each paragraph has a topic sentence and supporting detail;

4. Paragraphs are well developed with clear transitions;

5. The paper fully addresses the topic (AND DOES NOT STRAY FROM THE TOPIC);

6. Your conclusion clearly restates your thesis/ research question and summarizes your paper;

7. No errors in punctuation, capitalization, spelling, sentence structure, and word usage;

8. All citations are done correctly; and

9. The word “I” appears NOWHERE in the paper!

SOME GENERAL NOTES

1. Failure to reach the minimum page requirement will result in a reduction in grade;

2. You must have a separate title page and works cited page; these two pages ARE NOT INCLUDED in the 4-page requirement;

3. Excluding your introduction and conclusion, each paragraph of your paper should include at least one quote from your sources; do not start or end a paragraph with a quote; do not start sentences with quotes, always introduce quotes (i.e. according to…, for example…, one author points out…, etc.). quotes (if used correctly) help support the points you are trying to make in your paper;

4. Be consistent with citations and do them correctly. There are very specific guidelines for MLA and APA style citations, both in-text and for your works cited page.
